As the world of Charms seems to be taking us by storm we feel that Clip on charms really deserve a mention on our site www.mycharmparty.co.uk what do you think of them???
My first interaction with Charms was from my 21st Birthday when I was given a gold charm bracelet.I then collected them over the years, it was a beautiful example. But I know that they are becoming increasingly popular again.
Today’s clip on charms are so much easier than the traditional charm bracelet. The charms all have a tiny lobster clip hook, to enable you to clip them onto your bracelet. It’s as simple as that.No more soldering at the jewellers, and you can add the charm as soon as you buy it. All you do is clip the charm straight onto your bracelet.
Charms span thousands of years being used for all sorts of reasons, but not as we use them today, Charm Bracelets were originally used to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and date back as far as ancient Egypt who used them as symbols of faith and luck.
It was not until Queen Victoria started wearing charm bracelets that they became a fashion item among the nobility.
In the 1950s the charm bracelets once more became popular with teenagers collecting the charms to record events in their lives. And I think that continues to be the main reason most people start collecting today, symbolising special events such as 18th’s 21st’s, passing of exams, driving tests, the arrival of a baby or to show a symbol of love, or to mark a place in the world recently visited!
Charms make for such an easy gift so if you are stuck as to what to get somebody for birthday, Anniversary first check to see if they have a bracelet that they can clip a charm to otherwise you will have to buy the bracelet too.
Remember Charms live on and on, they are often passed down through the family so they are also a record of your family history.
